Microgrids Can Charge Electric Vehicles While The Main Grid Is Down

"According to the Department of Energy, a microgrid is 'a group of interconnected loads and distributed energy resources…that connects and disconnects from [the] grid…'" A microgrid can enable the charging of electric vehicles during a blackout. Microgrids can also support hospitals, government facilities, data centers, etc. Microgrids are already in place at some universities and on some corporate campuses.
